You may be asking yourself what's the difference between our beef, corn fed beef, and grass fed beef. What makes it better, and what made us raise beef this way?

First, most beef sold in stores is primarily Corn Fed unless explicitly stated otherwise. This mean it goes from weaning into a pasture and fed a corn mixed ration until is large enough for a feedlot. There its fed corn and roughage until it is processed. The pens are smaller, they are given a small amount of hormones to increase growth, and most of the feed contains GMO's. Some of these cattle marble well some dont, but there is a lot of meat. This is what we used to do.

As an alternative Grass Fed has become the gold standard for Paleo, Keto and whole foods diets. These animals are generally rotated on pastures without any form of supplement. They don't grow very fast due to lack of significant nutrition often being over 3 years old when processed. Which means more animals age on the farm but the farm is much less productive. The meat has a yellow tinge and a gamier taste with less quality and marbling. They also don't get as big so there is less meat and the overall system is not sustainable to feed the world.

A few years ago a family member came to us asking questions about how our meat compared to the store. We already didn't use hormones on our animals, but they wanted a more natural less processed feed without antibiotics, pesticides and GMOs. We had raised barley that year and since it has enough nutrients and doesn't need to be ground we began feeding it in addition to continuing to raise them on pasture. The family member was happy with the result and we began to notice improvement in the quality of the meat such as better marbling and earlier finishing age. This coupled with many other customers expressing interest caused the program to grow and develop. With more research we realized we have a product people want, that's healthier than Corn Fed beef and higher quality with better taste than Grass Fed. We also saw other producers using oats and since they were more readily available and backed by studies to lower in bad fat and cholesterol, we introduced oats in place of barley. Our cattle are talking to it well, and we have developed even more consumer interest. So we are starting this site an putting more animals into the oat program. But it's up to you to see the real difference. I challenge you to buy one of our 20 pound packages, see how you like it, and if you do come back for more in a quarter, half or whole. We will guide you through selecting your cuts and answer any questions you may have. Just email or call us at the address or number on our Facebook page. God bless you! Abraham
